Hugging those trees.

The Team volunteered for Arbor Aid 2013 and, in addition to shifts at the crafts table and serving beverages, saw some amazing art. Arbor Aid is an annual fundraiser to benefit Tree Pittsburgh, "an environmental non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the City's vitality by restoring and protecting City trees."

First attempt to help: Strong Women Strong Girls

"For physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body; it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness of the body and the activities of the mind is subtle and complex. Much is not yet understood. But we do know...that intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong; that hardy spirits and tough minds usually inhabit sound bodies."
- John F. Kennedy

Strong Women Strong Girls (SWSG) is an organization focused on encouraging girls and young women to become strong women through a mentorship program designed around the development of social emotional skills, leadership and professional skills, and supportive relationships.

We sold t-shirts during the 2012-2013 race season, in part to help raise funds for SWSG Pittsburgh, and in part to help the Team's race travel costs.

About Team Haleakala

Team Haleakala started as a boardercross race team.
Since we care about people very much, we also like to help.

This is a site for the team to post updates about our philantrhropic antics.
